All apologies
My profound apologies for lack of verbal content. I got sidetracked yesterday by both real life and the addictive Regency_House_Party on PBS. I hope that photographic content will suffice for today.
This shows my progress on the pink (flared lace) smoke ring, which I've spent way too much time on. I find that the problem with lace is that I get addicted to watching the pattern appear as I knit, and I can't stop, row after row after row. The end result is finished projects, but at the expense of other things I ought to be doing. Detail shot of one pattern repeat can be seen HERE, including double yarnovers in all their finished, knitted glory.
It's an accident that this looks like a heart, although its kind of cute. The 16" circs have a slight bend at the end of the needle, which causes a warping of the circular shape when I lay it out flat.
Here's the Highland Triangle Shawl (from Folk Shawls) so far. I have about 20 more rows to go on the inner border, before adding the last lace border. Hopefully you can see the difference between this picture and the previous one; I've progressed about 8 rows or so (with over 300 sts per row). I have 20 more rows of this border before I put the border stitches onto holders and start the final lace edging. I am at this point truly bored and just slogging away to get to the next part of the pattern. I do love the shawl so far. I just get bored easily. Especially now that I've stopped making mistakes on it.
Here's a teaser. This is a small project I'm working on as a surprise for a friend.
Interesting factoid: More people have gotten to my blog by googling for some variation of "Icelandic," or "Icelandic wool" than anything else. I may take this as a sign.

Icelandic wool, yeah, baby! That shawl is looking lovely! I'm so jealous. Someday. Someday. It's hilarious to me that you find a shawl doable, but not a sweater. I'm the other way. Plus, when you choose a sweater pattern, you'll go directly to the "advanced" designs! Blah!

Your *teaser* shows that quilt again. The teaser looks pretty; the quilt looks unbelieveable. I suspect it is an antique. Or is it yours Cassie? No need to mention, I suspect, that the shawl looks wonderful. I think envy is another one of the seven deadly sins, isn't it?

You lace is looking so beautiful. Funny how life gets in the way. I feel so behind! And the secret project looks lovely, too.

OMG - you saw it last night then? Heh heh heh, trouble begins brewing and let me tell you, that one chaperone needs to get a grip...
I dropped two stitches watching it last night, while knitting on a mitten... I didn't catch the mistake until I was 1/2" past the thumbs!

YumYumYum! The teaser looks good enough to eat; what a gorgeous persimmon-y color. And your pink smoke ring beginnings are really starting to make me wonder if I'm reading something wrong in the pattern. Hmmm. The three slanty "stripes" show up much more crisply in yours. Beautiful work, Cassie!

Looking forward to seeing your progress on the Flared Smoke Ring. Thanks for all the great notes you shared. I am going to put this on my wish list. I have never used a Heartstring pattern,...but, everyone raves about them.
